What I Do

If you have ever seen the show Supernanny on ABC, you have a pretty good picture of how I work. Not only do I agree with her philosophy and suggestions, I also use a three-phase plan, minus the high tech equipment.

Free Phone Consultation

The FREE phone consultation is an initial opportunity for both you and I to determine if my style and philosophy would benefit your family.  During the consultation, we will identify the behavior(s) that are most concerning to you as a parent. If your children just seem generally out of control, I can help you narrow the problems to one or two target behaviors. This can later be amended if, during phase one, you and I decide there are other issues of more concern. During this call, you and I will arrange a time (approximately two hours) for me to observe the behavioral patterns between you and your children within your home. I will also encourage you to choose a time period that feels like the most difficult time of day for you as (a) parent(s). Some examples are
  • getting up and ready for school
  • after school, homework and while dinner is being prepared
  • dinnertime
  • bedtime

Three Phases (In-home visits)

Phase One: Observation
I will come to your home to observe the behavioral patterns between you and your children (one and a half to three hours). This is only an observation so that I can get a good picture of the family dynamics or interactions. I will not begin any coaching until the next visit, although I may leave you with some reading to do prior to our next meeting. Before I leave, we will arrange for a second appointment in your home to begin Phase Two.

Phase Two: Parent Meeting & Coaching
I will meet with you, the parent(s) to discuss the “game plan” (about ½ hour to one hour). Once you are comfortable with the plan, we will present it to the children. I will remain with you, supporting you in implementing our plan with the children and stepping in as needed (two to three hours).

Phase Three: Parent Meeting, Observation & More Coaching (as needed)
I will again meet with you, the parent(s), alone initially to discuss your take on how things are going. At that time we will make adjustments, if necessary. Then I will observe the family’s dynamics again. We will work as long as necessary to achieve the desired result on whatever behavior(s) we targeted as our goal behavior during the initial phone consultation. This may happen during this third visit or it may require additional appointments  (at no extra cost).  The length of this visit may vary depending upon whether or not the target behavior(s) has effectively changed.
